About

For Dave art comes from a fascination with visual imagery. When the light and composition seen in just that moment makes you stop to appreciate, fills you with a feeling of awe. And from a need to share that feeling, that glimpse of something seen, or imagined.

Largely self taught and taught by the study of the work of some of his favorite artists and images, he works in a variety of mediums: oil painting on canvas and panel, in illustration, pen and ink, in graphic design and animation. He learned bronze casting from Holt Murray on the Pacific Coast of California falling in love with the process, and creating a wildlife series. His work can be recognized by an attention to detail and a painterly realism.

Living in the high Rocky Mountains he is currently working on a series of Colorado themed oil paintings. He describes his most recent painting as a "Faux Plein Air portrait of the architecture of the old west combined with an action sequence and a nod to a background in old school animation. And the horse is a stand in for my love of wildlife and animal art."
